Target Audience: Anyone
Session Length: Full Day
Whatever your role at your organization, communication is an essential skill to master in a world where sending and receiving information is becoming increasingly complex.
In this full day workshop, we look at communication through several lenses, along with completing team building games and group workshop activities to illustrate the information being taught.
Before we can get to work understanding all of the elements that impact the way we communicate with the people around us, we need to make sure we’re all on the same page.
We’ll introduce the classic ‘Eight Element’ model of communication, adding our own ninth element, the increasingly vital role of context in all communications.
Personal Communication Styles
In the course of this session, we’ll analyze the personal styles of every attendee, with special focus on the real world applications of using our new understanding to improve relationships and efficiency at work (and at home!)
In this first segment, we look at how our own reactions to conflict and our natural proclivity for conversation affect our communication style.
In Arcade’s innovative Motivational Approach, we look at motivation as the commonly overlooked ‘third dimension’ of communication. The truth is that all communication depends on a motivated receiver, especially in today’s noisy and distracting world. We look at understanding what motivates the people around us, in order to better communicate the messages we send.
Once we know how to frame our message, thanks to our newly diagnosed Personal Style, and we know how to approach our receiver, we need to understand how to reduce the noise between us.
We’ll talk about how our work environment and generational factors (often referred to as ‘The Millennial Problem’) can create communication barriers and how to minimize that noise in order to get more of our message through.
